Washington: The tariff war between the US and China is intensifying. A day after US President Donald Trump’s warning, the White House has confirmed that it will impose a total of 104 percent tariffs on China, with an additional 50 percent. The increased tariffs on China will be effective from April 9. Trump had imposed tariffs on 180 countries, including China, in his April 2 announcement.
In response to Trump’s tariffs, China imposed a 34 percent tariff on the US. Trump warned China that if it does not remove the tariffs imposed on the US, it will also impose another 50 percent tariff. Not only that, any meeting proposed by China will be terminated with immediate effect. Thus, the previous 54 and this time 50, a total of 104 percent tariff has been imposed on China.
